Hello Everyone,
I received a ton of grateful emails for forwarding the recent back and forth correspondences with the fellow who wanted to come on board Market America but didn't have the time to do a goal statement or understand the necessity for same or didn't have the time to follow up. In spite of the fact that he possessed all of the talents necessary to be successful, he didn't make the cut because of his unwillingness to be coachable. This was an easy call for me and the right one. Your most valuable asset is time and to spend it with someone going nowhere is a waste of that asset.
I have made the mistake of being less stringent with family and friends. Sometimes its very difficult to tactfully tell those who have already been successful in business that there is a proven way. They've already been successful. They know what to do - or so they think. Their ego gets in the way and it's like walking on eggs to advise them. With family, they know all your flaws and you simply don't have the credibility with them regardless of how successful you've been.
Because I know that MA is a slam dunk for all who follow the blueprint as I lay it out and because I've wanted to put a couple of hundred grand a year in their pockets (family and friends) so we could play together, in EVERY case where I haven't demanded absolute compliance with the proven method its come back to bite me in the ass. Sometimes when those those family members and friends do it their own way and it doesn't work its caused hard feelings. Some may even think that I scammed them. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It was my failure to insist that they do it the proven way rather than their own way that caused the problem. Invariably they tried to recruit on their own and it was a nightmare. They irritated friends and they were subsequently irritated with me. It was my selfishness that caused the problem - not selfishness for any royalties that I would earn off of their efforts - in most cases that was zero, but selfishness for the time I wanted to spend with them and I knew the extra cash they would earn would allow us to hang out together.
100% of the folks who have followed the blueprint as I have laid it out have gone on to become million dollar earners. Think about that for a minute. That's an incredible record that has been replicated hundreds of times. What's the secret?
The key to building a successful organization - and this is a MUST - is to find people who are committed and dedicated to success right up front. People who will stick their ego in their back pocket and follow the proven plan.
I recently lost the best friend I ever had in my life (except for my brother who is deceased and my wife) and the finest man that I ever knew. He was a role model in every sense of the word. I NEVER saw him less than positive in everything that he did. His integrity was stellar and he could be counted on 1000%. I wrote about him in the first chapter of Continuing the Journey, Building an Elite Team. I strongly encourage you to read again that very, very powerful chapter about building a winning team. In fact, read it twice and read it NOW - before you forget it. Imprint its message on your brain. It will put successful recruiting and building in perspective and reinforce your strength to do it right. If you don't have a copy of the book and aren't interested in purchasing one, borrow one. It'll help you set the standard and make your life easier..
If you don't do this now, remember the old adage, "Those who succeed simply do what those who fail, don't or won't do." Are you going to read the chapter or not? The choice for success is yours.
Remember, It's later than you think!
Frank
