Hello Everyone,
We just returned from the Southeast Regional Conventional. What an incredible event!
I left there with two predominant thoughts in my mind:
1. What an unbelievably exclusive club Market America is - just for the social atmosphere alone - it's an incredible environment of positive, successful people who are willing to do back flips to help you achieve your dreams whether they have a vested financial interest or not. This is a culture unlike any other anywhere in the world in business or recreation. Just to be part of it is a blessing. What made the SE Regional so special was the venue. All of the attendees stayed in the same hotel where the event was hosted. This allowed for a bonding and communion that we haven't seen since the beginning when one hotel could accommodate all of the participants. It was fabulous. There was an open bar and a couple of pianos which made for a great time. Dennis was at his best. Extremely humorous and down to earth but he drove the point home that "It's time to get committed!" not just to the business but to yourself - including your health and well-being - from diet and exercise to private time.
2. Secondly, and most important, it drove home the fundamental key to success - plugging into the events. Nobody espouses that philosophy better than Andy Webb and he's right on target.
I look at my recent experiences. I have been plugging in consistently for months. Recently participating in the Special Business Building Seminars is a classic example. The last one was saturated with young Asian kids. Many have attended 2, 3 or 4 times! With each attendance they have become more bullet proof and risen pin levels. Their excitement was so infectious that it inspired Kevin, Jim (Winkler) and me to do even more. I want to be just like them and recapture that excitement and spirit that was so prevalent in the beginning when the company was first founded and everyone was on fire!
A week after the SBBS, Gingie and I participated in the Mid Atlantic Regional Convention. The speakers were unbelievable. Kevin gave the best presentation that I've heard in 18 years with the company. Anyone he didn't encourage to dream must be brain dead.
The SE Convention was the perfect complement to the Mid Atlantic event. It filled in a couple of tiny spots that were either missed at the Mid Atlantic or that didn't click in with me - the old 7 times from 7 people 7 different ways syndrome. It illustrated how important it is to attend every single event that you can to fill in the blank spaces. The neat thing is the more I attend the more I want to attend. It's addictive. I love it!
In the beginning. Gingie and I traveled the country attending every major event. We didn't have any money but we found a way to make it happen. That's why we grew so fast and made such great friends.
In the next couple of weeks we'll be at the Northern Regional Convention, the New York District and back to back SBBS.. I hope to see you all at these events. The folks from Flushing will be there I can guarantee that!
It's all about positive reinforcement.
Speaking of positive reinforcement, I used to listen to tapes every day without fail. For whatever reason I haven't made the transition to the MP3. I just haven't been able to get used to walking around with earphones. That's why rarely wear my hearing aids even though I have difficulty hearing but I'll tell you what, attending and participating in all of these events has reminded me of the power and necessity of reinforcement and my next portal purchase, upon completion of this email, will be for a docking station for my house and car for my MP3 player so I can listen to the audios we have available. If you are serious at all about success, you need to do that, too - listen to the audios. Particularly if you are unwilling to attend events. Notice I didn't say unable because unless there's is a death or unexpected tragedy you can always find a way to attend just as you can find an excuse not to attend.
Gingie and I flew in from MD to attend the SE Regional. We were so looking forward to seeing our many friends from North Carolina to Florida at the Regional. How sad and disappointing that many of those we care about most didn't show.
Oh well, ......it was their loss. It was great to be with those who did. We had a ball and we're all on our way while others are still stuck at the starting line.
Maybe if you didn't attend you've lost sight of the fact that these events are about more than money. They're about reinvesting in friendships. One fellow, Rick spoke about only missing one event in the short time that he has been with Market America. That was the weekend that his father passed away and they held the wake. After the event 95 people from Market America showed up. Only 1 or 2 had ever even met his dad. No one from his place of employment of fifteen years showed. What does that tell you?
It's later than you think. I hope and pray that some day that will sink in.
